Edward is OUSTANDING!

Edward came to the gym with his mum and sister, a shy 12 year old boy, who quietly worked out keeping close to his family. Even though he was quiet, I could see from the first day his determination, his desire to want to work hard and lift that heavy weight. He has grown so much in the past few months, coming to the gym on his own when his family can’t make it, socializing with the other crossfitters and coming out of his quiet little shell.

A few weeks ago Edward asked me if kids could be crossfitter of the month. I told him of course they can, they have to fulfill the characteristics we look for in our crossfitters of the month.

Determination – Edward comes to class early everyday, and stays late to work on his pull ups, he is determined to get off that band. He is so close and will be doing his first band free wod any day. Even outside of the gym he is working on his pull ups. He got his first big rips on his hands from practicing his pull ups at the park.

Dedication – Not a day goes by that Edward misses a wod. Even with an injury, he shows up at the gym and works through the best he can. As a young boy eager to learn Edward is full of questions on how he can become stronger and faster at crossfit. He spends time on the computer researching crossfit, and is finding his own crossfit celebrity to admire (who doesn’t love Chris speller?!).

Strength and Stamina – Edward has shown huge growth in strength, working his way slowly but surely, to getting the workouts done RX. Its a struggle somedays, but he pushes the limits to get it done. He has learned it’s not always about time, especially when you want to put lots of weight on the bar.

Camaraderie – When you are done a wod and passed out on the floor, Edward is the first one to come over and ask if you need help putting your weights away. He has embraced the crossfit community, staying to cheer you on, push through that last rep, and telling you what a great job you did. I have enjoyed watching Edward become his own person at the gym, growing not only as a cross fitter but as a young boy who truly captures the spirit of crossfit.

His hard work and dedication is showing not only in his strength and stamina, but Edward is becoming a lean mean crossfitting machine! His body composition is changing, becoming leaner, stronger and faster. You are a joy to have in class edward, you walk in the gym with a huge smile on your face, excited to see what the wod is (is it deadlifts today?!!). Keep working hard, your gonna get that pull up any day now and rxing every wod soon!
