Rick had brought his son, Derrick, to CrossFit for a little while before he decided it was something that he felt he ‘needed’. His first workout was one that we all remember, but I am sure he would like to forget! If I recall correctly it was a 10 minute amrap that, well, let’s just say didn’t last the full 10 minutes for him
. He was as pale as this page and needed a lot of alone time that first day, but regardless, he just kept coming back and working his butt off day after day, week after week.
Rick finished each and every rep of every single workout and slowly but surely his recovery got better and better and we started seeing significant changes in his ability to lift more weight and execute his body weight movements with greater efficiency. Just recently he performed his first unassisted pullups and now does them regularly in workouts. We started the FPL Challenge in January and Rick not only embraced the challenge, but was one of our most determined participants, and boy, has it payed off for him. He looks 10 years younger and all of his workout clothes are just hanging off of him!
Rick was chosen as CrossFitter of the Month this month not only because of his progress, but his determination and attitude each and every day when he comes to the gym. He is a great guy who we just love having in the gym and we feel he has been a great inspiration to our other CrossFitters. Congrats, Rick. A title that is well deserved!

Great work Rick! You’re an inspiration!
